All students entering the Reaud Honors College are encouraged to work toward becoming Reaud Honors College graduates. Your honors journey will empower you to achieve your maximum intellectual and personal potential in ways that will complement your major and prepare you for a career, graduate school, or wherever your path takes you.

To achieve this prestigious distinction, you must:

A grade of B or better must be earned in order to receive honors credit for a course. 

With permission of the Reaud Honors College dean, the following courses may be counted for upper-level credit:

  • Graduate (5000-level) courses 

A student engaging in honors-type academic activities may receive non-course credit. The amount of such credit may range from one credit hour to no more than six credit hours and will be determined by the dean.

Honor Code, Awards, & Commencement

You are expected to engage in academic pursuits in a manner that is above reproach and adhere to our Honor Code

Reaud Honors College graduates are also eligible to earn: 


Special recognition is given to Reaud Honors College graduates during Lamar University's commencement ceremonies, including the opportunity to wear your Honors Medallion and Honors graduation stole (you will also receive a commemorative pennant!) and a notation by your name in the commencement program. The status of Honors College graduate will also be permanently affixed to your official transcript.

You are allowed to apply for as many awards that reflect your experience as a Reaud Honors student at Lamar University.
