All students entering the Reaud Honors College are encouraged to work toward becoming Reaud Honors College graduates. Your honors journey will empower you to achieve your maximum intellectual and personal potential in ways that will complement your major and prepare you for a career, graduate school, or wherever your path takes you.

To achieve this prestigious distinction, you must:

A grade of B or better must be earned in order to receive honors credit for a course.

With permission of the Reaud Honors College dean, the following courses may be counted for upper-level credit:

  • Graduate (5000-level) courses

A student engaging in honors-type academic activities may receive non-course credit. The amount of such credit may range from one credit hour to no more than six credit hours and will be determined by the dean.

All Reaud Honors College students are expected to engage in academic pursuits in a manner that is above reproach and adhere to our Honor Code

In addition to graduating as Reaud Honors College graduates, students are also eligible to earn other special recognitions from Lamar University: Latin Honors and the Otho Plummer Award

Special recognition is given to Reaud Honors College graduates during Lamar University's commencement ceremonies, including the opportunity to wear the Honors Medallion (shown) and a notation by the student's name in the commencement program.
