Stanley Chyi, oboist, is a member of the Austin Symphony Orchestra, Corpus Christi Symphony Orchestra and Symphony of Southeast Texas. He has also performed as a substitute with the Houston Symphony Orchestra, Houston Grand Opera, Houston Ballet, San Antonio Symphony, River Oaks Chamber Orchestra, Tucson Symphony Orchestra, New World Symphony and Civic Orchestra of Chicago. He has previously held positions with the Baton Rouge Symphony Orchestra, Sarasota Opera and Central City Opera.

Mr. Chyi’s passion for music extends into the community. He has performed with outreach groups affiliated with the Civic Orchestra (MusiCorps) and Rice University (JUMP!). Mr. Chyi has served on the faculty of Rice University’s Shepherd School Preparatory Division and also taught oboe lessons to Rice University students. He has coached members of Houston Youth Symphony and also maintained a private teaching studio. Numerous students of his have qualified for Texas All- State band and orchestra.

Mr. Chyi completed his master’s degree in oboe performance at Rice University’s Shepherd School of Music. He graduated cum laude from Northwestern University with a Bachelor of Arts in Economics and a Bachelor of Music in Oboe Performance. In past summers he has attended the Music Academy of the West as well as the AIMS, Artosphere, Aspen, Spoleto, and Texas Music Festivals.
