Ensemble and Chair Placement Audition Excerpts

There is no audition requirement to participate in the Lamar University Summer Band Camps: all student musicians are welcome! However, on the first day of camp, each student will perform an informal and relaxed chair-placement audition in order to assist with placement within the camp's two symphonic bands.

Students may use the 2017-2018 ATSSB/TMEA All-Region etudes, or a solo of their choosing for this audition. (If the student chooses to audition on a solo, we ask that they perform a technical and lyrical section.)

Our staff is aware that many campers may have never performed an audition. We work hard to make sure that each student feels comfortable throughout the experience and leaves the audition room feeling good about their performance.

Middle School Band Camp - June 17 - 21, 2018

Evening recreation typically includes movies, games, talent show and a dance. The camp culminates with a grand concert of bands, featuring all camp participants. Students may either commute or stay in the dorms and eat in the dining hall.
