Students may either commute or stay in the dorms and eat in the dining hall.

Chair-Placement Audition Excerpts

There is no audition requirement to participate in the Lamar University Summer Band Camps: all student musicians are welcome! However, on the first day of camp, each student will perform an informal and relaxed chair-placement audition in order to assist with placement within the camp's three symphonic bands.

Our staff is aware that many campers may have never performed an audition. We work hard to make sure that each student feels comfortable throughout the experience and leaves the audition room feeling good about their performance.

Band Camp II (High School) - June 24 - 28, 2018

This camp, intended for students who will have completed grades 8 through 12, offers a tremendous growth experience for intermediate and advanced wind and percussion players. Students participate in band rehearsals, chamber ensembles, private lessons and master classes. Additionally, elective courses include music composition, conducting, history of American music, jazz improvisation and more. Students may either commute or live on-campus and eat in the dining hall. Evening activities may include off-campus movies, student chamber music recitals, faculty recital and a performance by the camp jazz ensemble. The camp culminates with a grand performance of both concert bands and the percussion ensemble.
