Ensemble and Chair Placement Audition Excerpts

There is no audition requirement to participate in the Lamar University Summer Band Camps: all student musicians are welcome! However, on the first day of camp, each student will perform an informal and relaxed chair-placement audition in order to assist with placement within the camp's two symphonic bands.

Students may use the 2018-2019 ATSSB/TMEA All-Region etudes, or a solo/etude of their choosing for this audition. (If the student chooses to audition on a solo or etude of their choosing, we ask that they perform a technical and lyrical section/excerpt.)

Our staff is aware that many campers may have never performed an audition. We work hard to make sure that each student feels comfortable throughout the experience and leaves the audition room feeling good about their performance.

Middle School Band Camp - June 16 - 20, 2019

A staff of outstanding band directors and private lesson teachers offer a variety of daily classes, including full band rehearsals, master classes, private lessons, electives and daytime recreation. Evening recreation typically includes movies, games, sports, free time, and a talent show. The camp culminates with a grand concert of bands, featuring all camp participants. Students may either commute or stay in the dorms and eat in the dining hall.
