Wind Ensemble

Directed by Dr. Andrew McMahan, the Wind Ensemble is the premiere large ensemble at Lamar University. It is a process-oriented group that provides an opportunity for musicians to emphasize interactive musical skills in a large ensemble setting.

While promoting the advancement of wind music of artistic and historical merit, it reinforces the skills taught in the studio and develops the application of those skills. This course is designed to advance the growth of the students’ overall musicianship and to promote a lifelong love and respect of music.

The wind and percussion programs at Lamar University are among the most active programs on campus. Scholarships are available to students of all majors based on talent and departmental need upon successful completion of a scholarship audition.
