Andrew McMahan is the director of bands and associate professor of music at Lamar University. He teaches courses in conducting and music education, and serves as the artistic director and conductor of the Wind Ensemble. He also oversees all ensembles under the purview of the Lamar University Band Program, including the Symphonic Band, Jazz Orchestra, Basketball Pep Band and Marching Band.

Prior to his appointment at Lamar University, McMahan served as the director of bands and associate professor at Cal Poly State University, a position he held from 2010-2017.

Eric Shannon is the director of athletic bands and an associate professor of music at Lamar University. He directs the University's marching band, known as the "Showcase of Southeast Texas," as well as the Symphonic Band, Cardinal Basketball Pep Band, and serves as Audition Coordinator for the department. He also teaches the marching band techniques course, which is designed to prepare music education students for the administrative and pedagogical challenges unique to marching band.

Rick Condit

Rick Condit

Professor

Rick Condit is the director of jazz studies and professor of saxophone at LU. He began his career in jazz and jazz education in 1973 as the tenor saxophone soloist with the Stan Kenton Orchestra. Since then he has performed and taught in 47 states and over 25 countries on five continents.

Originally from the San Francisco Bay Area, he spent more than 10 years there as a freelance professional, performing with such noted artists as Ella Fitzgerald, Clark Terry, Louis Bellson, Ray Brown, Oliver Nelson, Bob Hope, and the San Francisco Symphony Pops Orchestra.

Francisco Perez

Francisco Perez

Director of Percussion
Assistant Professor

Francisco Perez is a percussionist, composer, and educator from Pflugerville, TX. He is currently an Assistant Professor of Percussion at Lamar University in Beaumont, TX where he oversees all aspects of the percussion studio.

As an active performer, he has accepted international engagements in Guatemala, Mexico, Spain, and China, and toured extensively throughout the US including performances at prestigious venues such as Carnegie Hall, Merkin Hall, and the Percussive Arts Society International Convention.
