Lamar University Bands Welcomes New Color Guard Director

Please help us welcome the new director of the LU Cardinal Colorguard, Amy Collazo!

Mrs. Collazo is a SETX native and proud LU Cardinal (’06, ’17, ’20). She has been performing, directing, and choreographing the visual arts since 1996. Mrs. Collazo, along with colleagues from TCGC and WGI, created the Lumberton HS Winterguard program in 2006 that has now gone on to win the TCGC State Championship. Amy has worked with multiple marching band directors to design show concepts, field staging, as well as flag and costume design for their UIL marching, state marching, and BOA shows. Mrs. Collazo has adjudicated the colorguard/visual caption for various marching contests and festivals in both Texas and Louisiana. Amy is currently an Educational Diagnostician with a local school district. She lives in Port Neches, Texas with her husband Justin and their daughter Marlee.

“I am thrilled to be joining The Showcase of Southeast Texas and its outstanding staff. It is an honor to return to my alma mater to start putting the music in motion. I can’t wait to show the community the talent of these students.”

If you are interested in learning more about the LU Colorguard, please reach out to Amy Collazo at amytaylorcollazo@gmail.com.
