Project Engineer

PROJECT ENGINEER, formerly Lamar Introduction To Engineering (LITE) - Senior, is sponsored by Motiva and the College of Engineering. The goal of the program is to pique students interests in the field of engineering and expose them to the various fields Lamar University has to offer. Students will be able to participate in interactive hands-on demonstrations, explore opportunities and see the various laboratories LU students utilize and conduct research in!

Applicant criteria will focus on those entering or currently in high school and can commute daily to the University. All students interested in attending PROJECT ENGINEER are encouraged to apply. 

What

  • Explore the tasks engineers undertake on a daily basis
  • Engage with faculty members from chemical, civil, electrical, industrial, and mechanical engineering
  • Concentrate on a variety of applications in each field
  • Participate in presentations and hands-on activities
  • Learn the meaning of what it is to be an engineer

Who

  • Students entering 9-12th grades for the 18-19 school year
  • Must have a 'B' average in Math and Science classes
  • Have strong recommendations from their current mathematics or science teachers

When

  • July 23rd – 27th

Time

  • 1pm - 4pm

Fee

  • $50 registration fee upon being selected for camp.

How to apply:

  1. Obtain a copy of your child's most recent report card. 
  2. Submit an online application along with the above materials.

Parents will be notified via email along with a registration link where they can submit their $50 registration fee.
