Lamar Introduction To Engineering (LITE) - Senior is sponsored by Motiva and the College of Engineering. Applicant criteria will focus on those entering or currently in high school and can commute daily to the University. Preference is given to underrepresented minorities and/or females. Those interested in attending the LITE - Senior program are encouraged to apply. Registration will be open until June 1, 2017.


  • Explore the tasks engineers undertake on a daily basis
  • Engage with faculty members from chemical, civil, electrical, industrial, and mechanical engineering
  • Concentrate on a variety of applications in each field
  • Participate in presentations and hands-on activities
  • Learn the meaning of what it is to be an engineer


  • Students entering 9-12th grades for the 18-19 school year
  • Must have a 'B' average in Math and Science classes
  • Have strong recommendations from their current mathematics or science teachers


  • July 23rd – 27th


  • 1pm - 4pm


  • $50 registration fee upon being selected for camp. Selections occur June 1.

How to apply:

  1. Obtain a copy of your child's most recent report card. 
  2. Have his/her math or science teacher fill out a Teacher Recommendation. Form must be hand-signed by the teacher. For homeschool students, please contact Ryan Litchfield.
  3. Submit an online application along with the above materials by May 31.

Selections will be made June 1st and posted online. Parents will be notified via email along with a registration link where they can submit their $50 registration fee. Students who do not make the initial selection will be placed on a reserve list if there are any drops.
