Architecture

RED HPCis a hybrid CPU and GPU cluster that can significantly increase heterogeneous computing capability and greatly facilitate a variety of research projects at LU. As a shared research resource, RED HPC can not only promote cross-disciplinary collaborations among faculty members from different departments within the university, but also enable LU to promote and strengthen collaborative opportunities with other research institutions. RED HPC is also an essential educational tool with the potential to foster interest among faculty in the development of new courses that will integrate new research findings into undergraduate and graduate curricula.

All undergraduate and graduate students at LU have access to this excellent computing environment that will broaden their knowledge and research experiences. The hands-on experience will further provide students with unique training that will increase their competitiveness in relation to their future careers.

Access to RED HPC is provided for external users from other academic institutions and industrial partners in the Golden Triangle area in Southeast Texas. The outcomes of the supported research will benefit society by improving health care, quality of life, and security throughout Southeast Texas and beyond.
