Since 1975, Lamar University Audiology has been helping individuals and their families to improve their quality of life to residents in the Golden Triangle and surrounding areas of Southeast Texas We are equipped with state-of- the-art instrumentation appropriate for assessment of hearing sensitivity, middle ear pathology, central auditory processing, hearing aid benefit/function and the overall identification and management of hearing and balance disorders.

As a training institution, the clinic is committed to providing services using the latest evidence-based protocols and equipment. All audiologists on staff hold Texas licensure and certification from the American Speech-Language and Hearing Association.

Specialty Clinic

Cochlear Implant Clinic

Specialists at Lamar University’s Cochlear Implant Center offer support to pediatric and adult cochlear implant patients. This support includes initial diagnostic evaluations to determine candidacy, proper fitting of the cochlear implant and continual follow-up support to ensure that the greatest benefit is derived from the cochlear implant. Physicians in Beaumont and Houston provide the medical and surgical aspects of cochlear implantation.

Adult Aural Rehabilitation Clinic

The Adult Aural Rehabilitation Clinic at Lamar University helps individuals with hearing loss identify and maximize their communication potential. The focus is to prevention and/or remediation of wider consequences of hearing loss. The services include evaluating and treating a wide range of hearing impairments, as well as prescribing and programming hearing instruments, including cochlear implants. More importantly, this clinic also provide psychosocial support, communication training and assistive listening devices to improve the communication ability and the quality of life of individuals with hearing loss and their significant others.

The clinic is located in the Lamar University Speech and Hearing Building. We are located on the corner of Rolfe Christopher and Iowa. The physical address is: Lamar University, Department of Speech & Hearing Sciences, Corner of Rolfe Christopher and Iowa, Beaumont, Texas, 77710. From US 69 take exit Highland Avenue, stay straight, just as you pass the railroad tracks turn left onto Rolfe Christopher Drive. Continue straight on Rolfe Christopher, through the stop sign. Speech and Hearing building is on the left. Parking is located on the south side of the building. Clients must get a parking slip from the clinic administrative assistant and display the parking slip in the cars dashboard. Cars without parking permits are at risk for being ticketed or towed.
