Alumni and Industry Relationships

Senior Design Team 2 2019

We are very proud and thankful for our many alumni and industry supporters. The following are some common ways to help the department.

Scholarships and Philanthropy

Due to the generosity of our alumni in both small and large donations, the Lamar Industrial and Systems Engineering Department has over $1,100,000 in endowed scholarship funds to financially aid our students.  Please contact Dr. James Curry if you are interested in providing support to the IE Department.

Advisory Councils

Our advisory councils helping to improve the Industrial Engineering and Industrial Technology programs for our current and future students by evaluating the performance of the department and suggesting strategic directions. Please email Dr. James Curry if you are interested in joining these councils.

Senior Design Projects

Companies can participate in senior design free of charge. Past corporate sponsored projects have designed new layouts, developed software to support quality control, selected robotic equipment, improved customer service at healthcare and government offices, and developed process improvement (5s, lean, six sigma) for manufacturing plants. A team of 3 to 5 senior IE students works on the project for 2 semesters. Please contact Dr. James Curry for more information about senior design.

CO-OPs, Internships, and Full Time Employment

CO-OP and Internships allow you to work with some great students and evaluate their potential as future employees.  CO-OP and Internships provide the key experience to allow students to transition from the academic environment to the work environment. The department strongly encourages students participate in co-op and internships.  By having all junior and senior courses online, many students have had extended employment at companies prior to graduation. Please email Dr. James Curry about employment opportunities.

Research Projects

Our faculty study a wide range of topics relevant to industry (Safety, Engineering Management and Process Improvement, Manufacturing, Human Factors, Automation, Data Mining, Optimization, Supply Chain Management, Statistics, Quality Control, Ergonomics and Reliability).  Our faculty are focused working on applied projects that solve real problems. See are faculty profiles for more information.

Career Fair

Take part in the Lamar Engineering Career fair.

Tours of Industrial Facilities

Our IISE student chapter is always looking for interestnig plant tours to see industrial engineering in action. Please email Dr. Liu about tours and site visits.
