Master of Engineering Science

The Master of Engineering Science Degree in Electrical or Computer Engineering at Lamar University Phillip M. Drayer Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering maintains a sterling reputation for research and graduate program excellence. Many students become published prior to graduation. This is a thesis-option program that prepares you to independently develop solutions in your discipline. You'll select a thesis committee and a director who will guide you as you prepare to defend and present your research.

Admission Requirements

Admission standards are designed to ensure that all enrolled students are qualified professionals serving in a leadership role in their engineering discipline. The primary requirements are as follows:

  1. B.S. in Electrical or Computer Engineering or related field (Transcripts required).
  2. Graduate Record Examination (GRE) is optional and not required for the Master of Engineering Science and Master of Engineering programs.
  3. If English is your second language, check the latest University policy regarding the TOEFL/IELTS requirements".

Degree Requirements

1. All College of Graduate Studies general degree requirements.

2. A minimum of 24 semester hours (eight courses) of electives. Other courses approved by student's Academic Advisor may satisfy part of this requirement.

3. Satisfactory completion and defense of a Master's thesis (a minimum of 6 semester hours of ENGR 5390 and ENGR 5391).
