After achieving a B.S. in Biology from Lamar University with a focus in Vertebrate Zoology in May 2025, Maddalynn Bonin continued to work her internship at AgriLife Research and Extension Center as a program aid until February of 2026. During her time at AgriLife Research and Extension Center, she worked in the Entomology Department under the leadership of Dr. Lina Bernoala and Rebecca Pearson. Her duties were aiding in field work, green house duties, and colony care. The lab coordinated studies from their graduate students with Mexican Rice Borer, Sugar Cane Borer, Fall Army Worm, Rice Stink Bug, and Delphacid. Upon participating in public events with AgriLife’s Field Day in Beaumont and Eagle Lake, Maddalynn then became interested in participating within education and outreach for the purpose of inciting public and student interest in the field of biology. Ultimately following her interests, she landed her career path with Lamar University currently as the Teaching Lab Technician.
