Favorite leadership quote:  “ A man who wants to lead the orchestra must turn his back on the crowd.” – Max Lucado

Why you chose LU:  I chose LU because I wanted to be a part of the small community and positive atmosphere.

Major: American Sign Language Advocacy

Favorite leadership quote: " Great leaders don't set out to be a leader, they set out to make a difference. It's never about the role, it's about the goal."

Why you chose LU: I chose LU because my previous institution did not have the major that I wanted. Lamar was affordable and had what I wanted and so much more.  What made me fall in love with Lamar was how close and welcoming the LU community is.

Favorite part of working with NSLP:  The amount of leadership growth I have been able to experience. Working as an Orientation Leader is what helped me realize what I wanted to be when I grew up and working with people like Brandie and the other SOCs has helped figure out what kind of person I want to be. College is about growth and working with this department has helped me more than anything.

Major - Accounting

Favorite leadership quote - "Strength does not come from winning. Your struggles develop your strengths. When you go through hardships and decide not to surrender, that is strength." - Arnold Schwarzenegger

Why you chose LU:  Reason 1: Lamar has an accredited business school, Reason 2: Lamar is close to family, Reason 3: My parents met here

Favorite part about working for NSLP: My favorite part about working for the office of NSLP is giving back to the office that has given me so much. The office is like a beacon of hope for new students to use to navigate the campus and campus life. That's exactly what the office did for me when I was new to Lamar and why I wanted to be a part of the office.

Classification: Junior

Major: mechanical Engineering

Favorite leadership quote: “ If ‘leadership’ has come to be known as something much bigger than us, aligned to changing the world, then we are spending way too much time celebrating things that hardly anyone can do and not celebrating things we can do every day.”- Drew Dudley

Why you chose LU: I chose LU because it’s always been LU. Ever since I was little, I’ve attended and sometimes worked summer camps here at Lamar, and I grew to love the campus and its people. I also knew that this was a great choice for my major and that it would open up doors for me. And it has!

Favorite part about working for NSLP: My favorite part about working for NSLP is getting to take ownership over your own projects. I didn’t realize how much I loved organizing events and making sure all the details were taken care of until I started this job. It’s a great feeling to see all the hard work you put into something pay off, and I see that all the time here.

Favorite leadership quote: " A genuine leader is not a searcher for consensus but a molder of consensus." - Martin Luther King, Jr.

Why you chose LU:  I chose Lamar University for two main reasons: 1) the campus is beautiful, and 2) during my tour of the campus the staff was very kind and helped answer all my questions.

Favorite part about working for NSLP: Is getting to work together with an amazing team to help make Lamar University a more comfortable place for everyone.
