National Transfer Student Week

What is National Transfer Student Week (NTSW)?

The National Institute for the Study of Transfer Students organizes National Transfer Student Week (NTSW) annually on every third week of October to celebrate transfer students and those that support them through their academic journey.

At Lamar University, we love our Cardinal Transfers! We want to celebrate and support the diversity of the transfer student experience. We hope that you join in on this celebration!

Fresh Feathers

Fresh Feathers was created by and for transfer students to connect and support transfer students to the Lamar campus and community. Fresh Feathers hosts events just for transfer students to help their transition to LU! As a Transfer Student, you can also join our planning committee to help plan our semester events and activities.

T-Shirt Swaps

During the first week of each semester Fresh Feathers facilitates a t-shirt swap for transfer students. We ask students to turn in a shirt from their old college or university and we will swap for a new LU shirt, designed for transfer students to show of their Cardinal Pride. We then take the old shirts and use them for a service project later in the semester.

Free Events

Fresh Feathers hosts monthly events open to all transfer students to help them connect with campus life. Every October we also host a week full of events for Transfer Student Appreciation Week.

Transfer Orientation

Every spring and summer the office of New Student and Leadership Programs hosts orientation sessions specifically for transfer students. While Orientation is not required, we highly recommended you attend to get ready and excited for your LU experience!
