New Student Orientation is specifically designed for new college students. You'll receive all the information you need to feel confident when you step on campus for your first day of class!

Orientation includes information about student services, academic life, academic advising and receiving your class schedule. It's also a great way to make friends, start building your on-campus community, and have FUN!

Lamar University offers Orientation for all incoming freshmen and transfer undergraduate students. Freshman students are required attend an Orientation session.

Orientation Summer 2020

Orientation will be completed in two parts, an online program where you will learn about Lamar information, resources, services and other important information and a Virtual Meeting with scheduled sessions.

  • You will receive an email with access to online orientation a week before your scheduled orientation session as well as a link to your virtual orientation.
  • On your schedule day and time you will join the virtual orientation via zoom, where you will interact with peers, staff and your Orientation Leader.

All programs will be conducted via zoomed and recorded. Recordings will be placed online.

Not sure about living on campus and where to begin, the Housing and Residence Life Staff will give you everything you need to know about living on campus and applying for housing.

Parent Panel - June 29th at 5:30pm - Join us
This presentation is geared towards our LU Parents and Families. Ask our Orientation Leader any questions that you might have about LU, how to help your student and more! 

Parent & Family Resource Panel - July 7th at 4pm 
This presentation is geared towards our LU Parents and Families. Hear from department on campus about their resources and how they can help you and your student successfully transition to LU.
Representatives from Financial Aid, Housing, Lamar Police and more.
