Our Division of Student Engagement is here to facilitate your transition into Lamar University, support your growth, and prepare you for personal and professional life after college. You will find that our committed staff place students at the center of everything we promise, plan, promote, and provide.

jonah smithJonah Smith, a Sophomore from Port Neches, is a Student Orientation Coordinator and an LU Ambassador. Jonah is majoring in Mechanical Engineering and Communication.

jada bowie-colemanJada Bowie-Coleman, a Junior from Destrehan, Louisiana, is an Orientation Leader and an LU Ambassador. Jada is majoring in American Sign Language.

eliseo guzmanEliseo Guzman, a Senior from Kirbyville, is an Orientation Leader. Eliseo is majoring in Management.

vy nguyenVy Nguyen, a Sophomore from Vietnam, is an Orientation Leader. Vy is majoring in Math and Education.


  • Thursday, August 18 – Color Run & Rave
    Dining Hall Lawn – 8pm
    Kick off your first weekend at LU with a Color Run and Rave. Wear white and come throw color around!

  • Saturday, August 20 – Late Night at the Rec
    Rec Center – 6pm
    Help us kick off the semester with a night of free, fun activities and events!

  • Sunday, August 21 – New Student Convocation
    Montagne Center – 4:30pm
    Our official welcome for all new students marks the start of your academic journey. This formal celebration of scholarship and tradition inducts new students into the community of learners at LU. Receive a welcome from the University President as well as campus leaders! All new students must attend.
