What is Conditional Admission?

Conditional Admission means that, based on application materials, Conditionally Admitted students have been accepted to Lamar University and must meet requirements throughout their first year to continue enrollment. Lamar University provides services that are designed for their specific needs, and we are committed to assisting them in achieving the terms of their Conditional Admission Commitment, including:

  • Earning above a 0.0 GPA their first completed term
  • Earning a minimum 2.0 overall GPA upon completion of their second term OR
  • Earning a third term extension by avoiding academic suspension and earning a minimum 2.0 overall GPA upon completion of their third term


  • Personalized Success Plan for their first year and beyond
  • Access to professional advising and academic coaching to develop high level thinking, study, and time management skills
  • Extensive and frequent communication and information
