Pulse Literary Magazine

Pulse is the student-run literary magazine of Lamar University, sponsored by the Department of English and Modern Languages and supported by our generous alumni and donors. On an annual basis, Pulse accepts student writing from undergraduate and graduate students in formal poetry, free verse poetry, short fiction, scholarly essays, and modern language literary translation.

Thanks to the generosity of donors and patrons like the Eleanor Perlstein Weinbaum family and estate and our very own Dave Oliphant, R.S. Gwynn, and others, Pulse is typically able to award modest cash prizes to an exemplary submission in each genre.

Pulse celebrates writing from our entire and diverse global community at Lamar University. We encourage first-time or emerging writers to submit their work.

Pulse is also accepting, on a rolling basis, applications for student editors and readers. For more information, contact us at pulse@lamar.edu
