Transfer Student

What is a Transfer Student

  • Transfer students are undergraduate students who attended another college or university. 
  • Transfer students with less than 18 transferable credit hours will have to meet freshmen standards for admission.
  • To qualify for transfer admission, students should have a cumulative grade point average of at least 2.0 on a 4.0 scale for all work attempted and be eligible to re-enter all colleges and universities previously attended.

How to Apply

  • Those transferring fewer than 18 credit hours should have SAT or ACT scores sent to Lamar University by the testing agency. Use SAT Code 6360 or ACT Code 4114.
  • Students should also have official copies of all prior college and university transcripts sent to Lamar University, regardless of the length of attendance and whether credit was earned.
  • Submit all transfer application materials no later than August 1 for fall and no later than January 6 for spring.
  • Transfer students should submit an online application through the statewide Apply Texas system.
