Graduate Admission Requirements

Students who wish to pursue a graduate degree at Lamar University can choose from 36 master's and five doctoral degree programs. To be eligible for graduate admission, a student must have a bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution.

Graduate admission at Lamar University is competitive, and requirements vary by department. Please refer to the departmental catalog entry, sorted by degree program, for specific requirements and standards beyond those listed here.

Application Requirements

Prospective graduate students should submit all admissions materials at least 30 days prior to the start of the semester in which they wish to begin studies.  Upon receipt of all university-required documents, the Admissions Office will forward your file to your desired academic department for an admission decision.

Required admissions materials include:

  1. An admissions application completed online through the Apply Texas system.
  2. Official transcripts from each college or university attended, including the accredited institution from which the applicant earned a bachelor’s degree.
  3. Scores on the GRE or GMAT (for MBA applicants). Both tests are administered by the LU Career & Testing Center. Scores may not be more than five years old. Use school code 6360 for GRE.
