How to Apply to
TEXAS ACADEMY
at Lamar University

Requirements for Admission

  • Must be a TX Resident
  • Meet TEA Requirements for 10th grade including completion of Algebra II
  • Minimum of 1130 on SAT and/or 23 on ACT

Algebra II Online Program Options: Texas Tech K-12 & TOPS

STEP 2

Application Details

When completing your ApplyTexas application, you will need to select the following: 
  • 4 year university: Lamar University Beaumont
  • Type of application: Freshman
  • Major: Texas Academy
  • Payment: Select Check or Money Order and the Texas Academy will waive the fee.

Submit Documents

After submitting your ApplyTexas application, you will receive an email indicating your required documents and the submissions instructions.

Submit your official transcripts, and official SAT and/or ACT scores (school code: 003581) to Lamar University Admissions.

After review of your ApplyTexas app and documents, you will receive an email notification of next steps.

Complete Texas Academy Application

Upon submission of your official documents, the selection committee will review your application. 

If you are invited to apply, you will be emailed a link to the Texas Academy Application along with instructions to complete an autobiographical essay and request letters of recommendation. 

In the event that an invitation to apply is not extended, further guidance will be provided.

Interview

The final step in the acceptance process is an interview with the Texas Academy Staff. After review of your essay and letters, you will be contacted via email to schedule an interview.
