Fitness Classes

Rec Sports is committed to promoting health and wellness at Lamar University and to providing continuous opportunities for fitness every semester. We offer great Group Fitness classes from Zumba to Cycling and more!

Our programs are tailored to every fitness and skill level. We encourage you to try something new this semester!

Class Descriptions

Cardio Kickboxing is a fun, action packed workout that combines martial arts, boxing, and dance moves. You get a challenging cardiovascular and full body workout as you kick, punch, block, and move.

Cycling is a high energy class for all levels with great music and motivating instructors riding a varied mixture of flats, hills, & sprints on stationary bikes while burning calories all the way!

HIIT 45 is an intense training class that offers workouts to target the core and glutes to burn some serious calories and work up a sweat. High-intensity and low-intensity activities combine for a program proven to sculpt and strengthen you.

Lower Body Burn will target quads, hamstrings, glutes and claves. Stop by and try the class you will love the diversity of the different things we do. All fitness levels are encouraged.

Pilates is a system of controlled exercises focused specifically on the core (abdominals and lower back) to help promote flexibility, strength, and stability.

Power Yoga is an invigorating, fast-paced style of yoga that links breath and movement to heat the body. Power Yoga is designed to challenge you and will leave you feeling energized, uplifted and centered. 

Red Zone Circuit provides a fun and unlimited crosstraining, strength, and functional group workout that can be adjusted to your fitness level, making it perfect for everyone from fitness beginners to athletes.

Restorative Yoga is a quiet class taught for all levels to restore your mind & body. It is a true blend of the ancient study including gentle stretching, breathing techniques, and meditation. Leave the class blissfully relaxed and ready to take on the world!

Total Toning uses complex movements that utilizes multiple muscle groups at one time, making a very highly effective and timely workout. This class will help increase your muscular endurance, strength, flexibility, and cardiovascular endurance.

Zumba features high-energy dance steps set to fast-paced Latin and international beats. It’s easy to do, effective and totally exhilarating, and often builds a deep-rooted community among returning students.
