Tanner N. McAlpin, M.F.A. (Instructor, Department of Theatre and Dance) joined Lamar University in the Department of Theatre and Dance to teach costume design and technology in the Fall of 2022. Tanner holds an M.F.A. in Theatre from The University of Arkansas. Before joining LU, Tanner was recently the Professor of Scenic and Costume Design at East Stroudsburg University. He has previously worked as the Costumes Associate and Interim Costume Shop manager for Theatre Squared in Fayetteville, Arkansas where he recently designed Tiny Beautiful Things by Nia Vardalos, the world premiere of Flex by Candrice Jones, and tailored for the premier of Designing Women, a new play by Linda Bloodworth-Thomason. Tanner also works as the head draper for Montana Shakespeare in the Parks where he most recently draped for Cymbeline and A Midsummer Night’s Dream for the 2021 summer tour.
