About Engineering at Lamar

The College of Engineering at Lamar University is one of the oldest programs on campus. Since its inception in 1923, Lamar University has remained in the hotbed of the oil and gas industry. Promoting science and technology, the university began offering four-year degrees in engineering in 1951 and became the first program to offer a doctoral program in 1970.

Each of our five departments offers bachelor, master and doctoral degrees as we continue to grow and expand.

Our college is small in terms of population, but our excellence stems from our professors work being tied so closely to industry, properly preparing our students for the workforce. Being so close to industry, we offer students co-op opportunities to gain valuable experience before they graduate.
