- LU College of Engineering’s own organization, Student Engineering Council, hosted Discover Engineering in the Science and Technology building.
- Lamar University welcomed the Jack and Jill Beaumont chapter of America in collaboration with the College of Engineering, for their regional event, Children’s Cluster.
- LU College of Engineering hosted the annual Senior Design Symposium.
- Lamar University College of Engineering announces the passing of former LU College of Engineering dean Dr. Jack Hopper on April 11 at the age of 84.
- LU College of Engineering hosted an industry and school workshop for Southeast Texas.
- LU College of Engineering was proud to host the return of ExxonMobil’s annual Introduce a Girl to Engineering Day to 8th grade girls in the Beaumont Independent School District.
- The United States Environmental Protection Agency has awarded Dr. Qin Qian, professor of civil and environmental engineering, a total of $448,625 to use in the improvement of water quality in the Gulf of Mexico.
- The National Science Foundation has awarded Dr. Zhe Fan, assistant professor of mechanical engineering, a total of $177,460 for his engineering research initiative in complex concentrated alloys.
- Dr. Liv Haselbach, chair of the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering, along with Paola Passalacqua, R. Patrick Bixler and John Swartz of University of Texas at Austin and Hamed Moftakhari of University of Alabama , has received funding from the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration for a project titled “Understanding current and future coastal flood risk: How do local governance networks shape resilience efforts in response to perceived hazards?”

Graduate Program
The College of Engineering welcomes all graduate student applicants. Qualified graduate students are offered out-of-state tuition waivers plus $1000/year general graduate scholarships. Highly qualified students are offered assistantships with tuition waivers. Please see the individual program pages for more information.
