J. Darrell Mohr, Ph.D.

Dr. Mohr began working in the field of disability services in 1988. Over the years, he has taught diverse students across numerous educational settings and grade levels in Texas and has been recognized by advocacy groups for his work with students with disabilities. He began doctoral studies at the University of North Texas in 2001, upon receiving a doctoral fellowship to pursue full-time studies in emotional and behavioral disorders. Upon earning a Ph.D. in 2004, Mohr returned to the classroom to teach children for several more years. In addition to teaching, he has served as an inclusion facilitator and consultant to families of children with disabilities.

Dr. Mohr has been a Texas educator for over twenty years, certified in three content areas, teaching diverse students at the elementary, middle, and high-school grade levels. He has served Lamar, both as a full-time faculty member and as an adjunct instructor of online graduate courses. Additionally, Dr. Mohr has taught for three other universities in Texas.

Dr. Mohr served on the executive board of the Texas Council for Exceptional Children (TCEC) as well as on the executive board of the Texas Council for Children with Behavioral Disorders (TCCBD). Additionally, he served as an active member of the Spindletop Professional Advisory Committee for Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities, as well as other advocacy organizations including the Arc, and Special Olympics.
