Applying to the MBA Program

Setzer Center

Prospective graduate students should submit all admissions materials at least 30 days prior to the start of the semester in which they wish to begin studies.  Upon receipt of all university-required documents, the Admissions Office will forward your file to your desired academic department for an admission decision.

Application Deadlines

Domestic

Domestic applications must be received 30 days before fall, spring or summer registration.

International

The international applications must be received by the following dates:

Fall Term (August)

  • Priority Deadline: April 15
  • Final Deadline: July 1

Spring Term (January)

  • Priority Deadline: September 1
  • Final Deadline: December 1

Required Applications Materials

  1. An admissions application completed online through the Apply Texas system.
  2. Official transcripts from each college or university attended, including the accredited institution from which the applicant earned a bachelor’s degree.

International Students

International graduate applicants must have an official report of course-by-course evaluated transcripts of all post-secondary work sent to Lamar University directly from one of the evaluating agencies listed in the previous link. Lamar University does not evaluate transcripts internally, so you do not need to send official transcripts to our office. These agencies may deliver your evaluation by email at LUAdmTran@Lamar.edu, or to the mailing address listed below:

Admission Requirements

Applicants must meet the following requirements for admission to the MBA program.

  • Hold a bachelor's degree from an accredited university with a GPA of 2.5 or higher (cumulative or in the last 60 hours).
  • Applicants with a GPA below 2.5 in their bachelor's degree (cumulative or last 60 hours) must submit a GMAT or GRE score to satisfy one of the following formulas:
    (GPA X 200) + GMAT score =1000+
    (GPA X 200) + GRE score = 760+
