MBA Course Requirements

What is required for an MBA at Lamar University?

For students with an undergraduate business degree, the Lamar MBA is a 30-hour program (21 hours of core and nine hours in a selected track).

For students with non-business undergraduate degrees, the MBA requires up to 36 hours. This includes an additional six hours of leveling courses. The MBA office will review student's previosus trasncripts during the admission process and will notify students upon acceptanc which leveling courses will be required.

MBA Curriculum

Leveling (Foundation) Courses (6 hours, 2 courses)

  • ACCT 5315: Financial & Managerial Accounting Foundation (3 hours)
  • FINC 5300: Foundations of Finance and Economics (3 hours)

Core Courses (21 hours, 7 courses)

  • ACCT 5370: Managerial Accounting (3 hours)
  • ECON 5370: Managerial Economics (3 hours)
  • FINC 5310: Financial Management (3 hours)
  • MKTG 5310: Marketing Management (3 hours)
  • MGMT 5340: International Business or BUSI 5380:Global Enrichment (3 hours)
  • MISY 5340: Intelligent Enterprise Systems or BUAL 5380: Managerial Decision Making (3 hours)
  • MGMT 5380: Strategic Management (MBA Capstone Course) (3 hours)

Track Electives (9 hours, 3 courses)

Students will select three elective courses (3 hours each) in a track of their choice.
