Pre-Professional Program Description

The pre-professional Pre-Law Degree Plan prepares you for further study of law. Paired with your B.A. or B.S. in Political Science, this particular program, along with your own brand of community and campus involvement, investigation and engagement in your chosen discipline, and extraordinary academic performance will help you apply for and excel in law school.

Why Study Pre-Law at Lamar?

Your Pre-Law Degree Plan program at Lamar University features free electives and an 18-hour minor that allow you to tailor your undergraduate degree to the kind of legal career you desire. Juniors and seniors may take part in the State Attorney General's Internship Program and various legislative and local government internships.

You'll have access to a counselor in the Political Science Department who will assist and advise you through your program, taking your LSAT, and timely application to the law schools of your choice. Based on your exceptional performance and the approval of the department chair, you may qualify for a position in a cooperative program with a local law firm. Being situated within an interstate, coastal culture and a global industrial hub, LU offers a unique environment for legal studies.
