Degree Description

The Lamar University Bachelor of Science Degree in Family Studies - Family and Consumer Sciences Teacher Certification will prepare you for teaching FCS in Texas, complete with teacher certification through the Department of Teacher Education. If you choose a career outside of teaching, this degree will also set you up for positions that require a broad range of education and experience.

You will also need to meet the certification requirements of the Lamar University Teacher Education Program as outlined in the Teacher Education section of the Lamar website. Before you can be certified, you must successfully complete the Family & Consumer Science content examination and the TExES examination covering Pedagogy and Professional Responsibilities.
