Degree Description

The Lamar University Bachelor of Business Administration in Finance provides you with the theoretical background and analytical tools to make intelligent and effective judgments in finance. Much of finance centers on determining the value of financial assets such as stocks, bonds and derivatives. You will take courses in management, international and personal finance, investments and security analysis.

As a finance student at Lamar, you'll have access to the Fecel Financial Center, a state-of-the-art financial information lab for financial market research. You will gain experience solving real-world business problems in real time using the same sophisticated technology found in Wall Street firms.
In your Investments class, you'll have the opportunity to manage the Lamar University Student Managed Investment Fund, a live portfolio of approximately $500,000. When you graduate from this program, you will have the foundation to succeed in any continuing education program. Your degree may open the door to a career as a financial analyst, consultant, planner or manager. You could also become a commercial or investment banker or even a real estate agent.
