Lamar University is committed to fostering a safe and respectful educational environment and maintains a zero-tolerance stance towards hazing. Hazing is prohibited by federal law, Texas law and university policy.
The university will take appropriate disciplinary action against any student, student organization, or affiliated group found responsible for engaging in hazing activities.
In accordance with the Stop Campus Hazing Act and applicable state law, this report provides information regarding student organizations found responsible for violations related to hazing. This report encompasses findings and disciplinary outcomes from the previous three years through the date of publication and will be updated annually.
Definition of Hazing Under Texas Law
Under Texas Education Code §37.151, hazing is defined as:
"Any intentional, knowing, or reckless act, occurring on or off the campus of an educational institution, by one person alone or acting with others, directed against a student for the purpose of pledging, being initiated into, affiliating with, holding office in, or maintaining membership in an organization" when the act involves physical brutality, exposure to unreasonable risk of harm, forced consumption of substances, coercion, or activities that violate the law.”
Reporting Hazing
Anyone with information regarding a potential hazing incident is encouraged to report it immediately.
No instances of hazing or allegations within the past three years.
