Apple teams up with Lamar University for the launch of new Learning Coach Program

Apple recently announced the launch of its new Apple Learning Coach professional learning program. Apple Learning Coach is a free professional learning program that trains instructional coaches, digital learning specialists and other coaching educators. With a goal of empowering educators with technology and resources, the new program ensures that educators who coach teachers get the most out of Apple technology. Participants that have completed the program and earned their Apple Learning Coach Certification also can obtain continuing credits from Lamar University through the Texas Education Agency.

Susan Prescott, Apple’s vice president of Education and Enterprise Marketing said in a recent statement released by the tech company, “We know that professional learning opportunities — from educators, for educators — make all the difference in unlocking the potential in every student. Apple Learning Coach is designed to do just that, and we are thrilled to offer this new program today. We also look forward to bringing the new Apple Education Community online, as a vibrant space for educators to learn from and connect with one another, and we think educators are going to love the new features coming to Classroom and Schoolwork to make learning even more interactive."

In addition to the Apple Learning Coach program, Apple also is releasing the Apple Education Community which will serve as a hub for Apple professional learning resources including Apple Teacher and Apple Learning Coach. It also will offer a collaborative space where educators will be able to connect and share ideas.

The Apple Learning Coach professional program is accepting applications from educators across the U.S. through April 19. Educators that have earned their Apple Learning Coach Certification may apply for continuing education units or continuing professional development credit at lamar.edu/apple-learning-coach.
