VITA Tax Filing Assistance Workshops

International students, whether or not they have income in the tax year, must file FORM 8843 by June 15th of each year, by mail, to the IRS. 

Students that have earned income will need to complete FORM 13614-NR (Nonresident Alien Intake and Review Sheet) and bring the documents that support the information on Form 13614-NR to the workshop for assistance with tax filing.

Income documents will include:

  •  W-2 for wages including gambling and winnings
  • 1098-T for scholarships and school expenses
  • 1099-R for retirement income
  • 1099-MIS for other income
  • 1099-NEC for non-employee compensation
  • 1099-G for any government payments
  • 1099-B for crypto values
  • 1099-DIV for dividends
  • 1099-INT for interest earned
  • 1099-E for student loan interest

These VITA Tax workshops are scheduled to take place weekly, on the dates listed below. All meetings are currently scheduled to take place in the Lucas Engineering building, Room 209. Only a limited number of participants may attend an event, so please be sure to choose a date that has available space.

CHOOSE ONLY ONE DATE OF ATTENDANCE BELOW. IF AN EVENT IS MARKED AS "SOLD OUT," THEN NO MORE SPACE IS AVAILABLE IN THAT PARTICULAR SESSION AND YOU SHOULD CHOOSE A DIFFERENT SESSION.

Please know that only 10 students will be allowed to participate in each session. Our office apologies for any stress or confusion this may cause, and we must again request that you reserve a date for your appointment and allow the Tax volunteers to be able to properly assist you with your concerns.
