Beginning January 2016, Lamar University is offering a cohort of the Doctorate in Education Leadership program exclusively for educators of the Mediterranean Association of International Schools (MAIS). This doctoral program is delivered fully online, requires no residency or travel, and is designed to fit into the busy schedules of full-time educators.
In this exclusive cohort, you will study with fellow MAIS educators while taking courses focused on the uniquely global needs of international school leaders. Graduates of this innovative doctoral program are prepared to work as transformational leaders at the highest levels of education to improve the lives of the world's citizens.
The program is founded on the core values of altruism and caring for others, democratic values and corresponding actions that celebrate diversity, and it is aimed at enriching and expanding educational opportunities for all.
FORMAT
As a fully online program, coursework is completed in five semesters. Each course lasts five weeks and students have a minimum of one week off between courses. Class modules are one week each and provide the weekend to complete assignments not completed during the week. With the exception of an online video conference once a week, students have the flexibility to study when they choose. Most courses utilize project-based learning or other inquiry-based models that integrate professional activities into the program. This unique course structure allows students to collaborate in professional learning communities.
