Claire Elestwani is an artist, designer and educator from Houston, Texas.

Before beginning her own design practice, she worked in the non-profit sector, designing materials and strategy for capital campaigns. Her independent design practice focuses primarily on branding and alternative print publications. As an artist, she is interested in the plasticity of language and she often uses historical linguistic reconstruction techniques to insert new grammars into existing structures. Her linguistic subversion takes the form of publicly performed lectures, followed by collaborative movement-based performances that make use of costumes that she designs for each performer. She received her M.F.A. in graphic design from the University of Houston and her B.A. in linguistics from Rice University.
