Bachelor of Applied Arts & Sciences

The Bachelor of Applied Arts and Sciences (BAAS) at Lamar University is designed specifically for students who have already earned an associate degree. Only students with an associate degree are eligible to choose these concentrations, as the program builds directly on prior technical or workforce education. 

Degree Concentrations

We offer the following degree concentrations under BAAS: 

  • Applied Criminal Justice Studies 

    Focuses on the criminal justice system, crime analysis, and law enforcement practices. Prepares students for careers in policing, corrections, and investigative roles. 
  • Applied Film Studies 

    Combines film theory with hands-on production skills like editing, storytelling, and media creation. Ideal for careers in film, video production, and digital media. 
  • Applied Management 

    Centers on leadership, organizational behavior, and operations. Designed for students aiming to move into supervisory or management positions. 
  • Applied Marketing 

    Covers marketing strategy, consumer behavior, and digital marketing techniques. Prepares students for roles in advertising, branding, and sales. 
  • Cybersecurity 

    Focuses on protecting information systems and networks. Students learn about cyber threats, security tools, and risk management. 
  • Data Analytics 

    Teaches how to interpret and analyze data to support decision-making. Includes statistics, data tools, and business intelligence concepts. 
  • General Business 

    Provides a broad foundation in business principles such as finance, economics, and operations, offering flexibility across industries. 
  • Human Resources & Employee Relations 

    Focuses on recruiting, training, workplace policies, and managing employee relationships within organizations.
