STEAM Professional Learning for Teachers/Summer STEAM Camps for Students

Lamar University is offering Texas school districts a summer learning experience for Elementary, Middle and High School teachers and students in STEAM and Digital Robotics.

This program provides engaging professional learning for teachers, summer camps for students, digital robotics licenses for schools, and an opportunity to bring engaging and dynamic learning to classes, clubs, and afterschool programs.

Schools who host these collaborative university-district provided camps are provided with year-long instructional support and coaching. Optional participation in virtual robotics competitions are available.

Teachers Receive

  • Three days of no-cost training on teaching STEAM and Digital Robotics.*
  • Separate cohorts for Elementary, Middle and High School teachers.
  • $500 stipend.
  • An opportunity to receive 3 credit-hours of M.Ed credits.
  • A year of access to the digital robotics platform for personal use.

*No prior technical experience required.

Students Receive

  • A fun and engaging week-long camp experience that teaches key STEAM skills.
  • Three months of access to the digital robotics platform for personal use.
  • Relevant STEAM skills in robotics, computer programming, algorithmic thinking, collaborative problem solving and more.

Districts Receive

  • Summer STEAM Camps offered to local students.
  • 10% share of net revenue of camp tuition.
  • Support in securing corporate donations.
  • Marketing materials.
  • Curriculum for camps, classes and afterschool programs.
  • Up to 25 year-long licenses to the digital robotics platform.
  • Year-long technical and instructional support for all participating teachers.
