Dr. McGough earned her B.A. in History from the University of Houston. She taught Texas History in Pasadena ISD while earning her Masters of Science in School Counseling at the University of Houston Clear Lake. She completed her Internship at Pro-Vision, a HISD Charter School where a job was created for her as she laid the foundation for their school counseling department. She then went on to work for Pasadena ISD as a secondary school counselor for five years and then for Deer Park ISD for seven years. She earned her Ph.D. in Counselor Education at Sam Houston State University.  Her dissertation was titled, “At-Risk Students’ Perceptions of Contributors and Inhibitors to their Academic Progress in an Alternative High School”.
