Degree Description

The Department of Nutrition, Hospitality and Human Services, in collaboration with the Department of Health and Kinesiology, offers a graduate level Sport Nutrition Certificate. The certificate is 18 hours and is exclusively online. Through the collaboration of two departments, the goal of the certificate is to provide students with advanced education and practice application with a focus on the relationship between nutrition and exercise science to impact sport performance. 

This unique certificate joins two fields: nutrition and exercise science to build upon a foundation knowledge in each respective background. After receiving a certificate, you will be able to work with athletes and others involved in sports to develop a dietary plan that best helps optimize their performance using the latest scientific evidence practices and recommendations. 

This certificate is designed for those holding a bachelor's or master's degree in nutrition or exercise science, registered dietitian nutritionists, nutritionists and certified personal trainers. The courses in this certificate program can be applied toward the M.S. in Nutrition – Sport Nutrition

Admission requirements: applicants must have a bachelor's or master's degree in nutrition or exercise science from an accredited university or college and have an undergraduate GPA of 2.5 or higher GPA of 3.0 or higher.
