Some people throw out their pennies, others lose them. Lamar University College Panhellenic Council (CPC) will find a better use for their coins. On Thursday, July 9, 2009, members of CPC will be accepting pennies to benefit The Southeast Texas Humane Society from 1:00 pm – 3:00 pm outside the quadrangle entrance to the Setzer Student Center. Members of the council will also collect much needed shelter items such as premium puppy and dog food, canned puppy food, dog shampoo, frontline flea control, premium kitten food, kitty litter, collars and leashes, towels, sheets, windex, bleach, postage stamps, copy paper, scotch tape, and solid air fresheners.
“For our special summer service project, we really wanted to find some way to help the Humane Society, and we thought everyone has pennies,” said Laura Whitmire, president of the Lamar University College Panhellenic Council. “This is an easy way for people to make a difference and support this worthwhile cause, helping to save the lives of homeless animals in our area.”
