AI Tools

AI Tools with Enterprise Protections for Faculty, Students, and Staff

Before diving in to exploring AI, it's important to find the right tool for the right job.

Note: The list below is not exhaustive. Some tools may not be available to all faculty and staff. For information on other available generative AI tools, contact universityinnovation@Lamar.edu.

Text-Based Tools

Text-based generative AI tools, including Microsoft Copilot and Google Gemini, take a written prompt and produce a response in natural language. They write and edit text, generate code, translate between languages, and answer questions in a conversational exchange.

Both tools operate under Lamar's enterprise agreements, which keep entered data out of the vendors' training sets and away from other users, so only Public data and information that has been appropriately de-identified should go into either tool. See LU's Data Classification standard (15.01.02) for what qualifies at each level.

  • Microsoft Copilot

Log in with LEA user name to take advantage of our enterprise privacy and security measures. Use with Public or appropriately de-identified data.

  • Google Gemini

Log in with LEA user name to take advantage of our enterprise privacy and security measures. Use with Public or appropriately de-identified data.

Image-based Tools

These tools generate images and text effects from a written description or keywords. Content entered through Lamar's licensed Adobe accounts is not used to train Adobe's AI models.

  • Adobe Firefly

Available through Lamar University’s Adobe Creative Cloud license.

  • Adobe Express (OpenAI)

Learning Management System (LMS)-based Tools

  • Anthology’s AI Design Assistant (Blackboard Learn Ultra)

AI Design Assistant can help with:

    • Simplifying Course Creation
    • Content-based Assessment Generation
    • Rubric Creation
    • Royalty-free Image Sourcing
  • Ally's AI Alt Text Assistant

Found within Ally Accessibility Reports for images. Select Auto-generate description located below the textbox. Ally AI will process your image and provide a suggested description.
