COVID-19 Appointment Guidelines

Wear a mask if experiencing fever, chills, runny nose, sneezing, sore throat, and/or cough. Do not bring family, including children, or friends to your appointment, only patients are allowed in waiting area. Wash your hands and use the hand sanitizer provided while in the facility for the best protection against viral spread. Any questions may be directed to the front desk.

The Student Health Center is open Monday – Friday 8 am-5 pm. Please call to schedule an appointment at 409-880-8466. Local medical facilities and testing sites are available for testing and treatment after hours.

COVID-19 Testing

Students

Students may receive COVID testing at the SHC by appointment Monday through Friday. Testing is also available off-campus. See our Local Health Resources page.

Faculty and Staff

Faculty and staff may receive COVID testing at the PCP office or at any local facility providing testing. A list of some of these facilities is available on our Local Health Resources page.

CDC COVID-19 Guidance

Symptoms

People with COVID-19 have had a wide range of symptoms reported – ranging from mild symptoms to severe illness. Symptoms may appear 2-14 days after exposure to the virus. Anyone can have mild to severe symptoms.

Symptoms may include:

  • Fever or chills
  • Cough
  • Shortness of breath or difficulty breathing
  • Fatigue
  • Muscle or body aches
  • Headache
  • New loss of taste or smell
  • Sore throat
  • Congestion or runny nose
  • Nausea or vomiting
  • Diarrhea

 

Exposure or Symptomatic

Exposure:

  • Wear a mask for 10 days
  • Test on day 5
  • If symptoms develop isolate until tested
  • Positive test: isolate from other for 5 days including in the home
  • End isolation after day 5 if you have been fever-free (without taking medication) for 24 hours and symptoms are improving.
  • Negative test: end isolation but continue wearing mask until day 10

  • Follow above list starting at third bullet point
