In the Health Education Department, there are opportunities to be a Peer Health Educator through our Healthy Cards program or to be a part of our volunteer program.
If you are interested in participating as a Peer Health Educator which is a paid position, please see the side tab that says “Healthy Cards” for more information. Applications open in Fall 2023.
If you are interested in becoming a volunteer, please fill out the forms at the bottom of this page and email them to the Health Educator, Courtney Jackson at
CJackson30@lamar.edu.
Requirements:
- Currently enrolled student at LU or LIT (full time and part time are eligible)
- All documents filled out and submitted to the Health Educator
- Ability to discuss health related topics, including sensitive topics, with maturity
- Ability to speak to students, staff, faculty, and student's families for events like Cardinal View, Week of Welcome, and other related events
- Availability to meet with the Health Educator upon entering the Health Education Volunteer program to determine your health interests and goals for volunteering
Service Hours:
If you are interested in volunteering to earn service hours for your organization, club, or other extra-curricular, this needs to be discussed prior to the first scheduled event in which you will be volunteering. The Health Educator can sign off on hours that you commit to the Health Education Department.
