If you are a new CITI user:

• Click "Register"
• Enter your organization affiliation: Lamar University and agree to the terms of service.
• Enter personal information
• Create a username and password of your choice
• Answer the series of questions.
• Answer "NO" to continuing education
• Finalize registration

Human Subjects Research (HSR) training is offered through CITI and is required for anyone involved in research studies with human subjects. Depending upon the research, either Social-Behavioral-Educational or Biomedical (Biomed) courses will need to be completed prior to submitting an IRB study.

Working with the IACUC is a required training course offered through CITI. Training is intended for laboratory research personnel who will write animal use protocols for review by Lamar IACUC.

This course provides basic information regarding the U.S. regulations for protection of animal subjects used in research, teaching, and testing.

Biosafety Training Course is a required training course intended for researchers handling biohazards in a research or clinical laboratory. The course is offered through CITI and addresses of biohazards, risk assessment, and key risk management principles including work practices, personal protective equipment (PPE), engineering controls, and emergency response.

Lamar University IBC requires protocol and lab approval for conducting experiments with various biohazards. Those working with recombinant and synthetic nucleic acid research experiments, will need this training as one of the requirements of the National Institutes of Health (NIH) Guidelines for Research Involving Recombinant and Synthetic Nucleic Acid Molecules.

Conflict of Interest training is intended for investigators who receive funding from a U.S. Public Health Service (PHS) agency, including the National Institutes of Health (NIH) or who are required by their organization to be familiar with the PHS conflicts of interest regulations. 

Lamar University requires all PI's to complete this training and a current COI on file regardless of the funding source.

Responsible Conduct of Research Training provides an overview of research misconduct and other behaviors that can compromise research integrity. The RCR training is intended for all investigators involved in research, funded or unfunded.

Export Control Compliance focuses on export compliance as it relates to biosafety, operational departments, international shopping, purchasing, international and foreign waters, collaborations, and U.S. sanctions programs, distance education, and technology.

The required training course is offered through CITI and is intended for researchers who work with or may be responsible for federally controlled devices, materials, and technologies.
