The month's events begin Monday, Nov. 2, with a celebration marking the release of Hope Over Troubled Waters, the debut album of the Cardinal Brass Quintet, LU’s faculty brass ensemble. The event will take place at Rothwell Recital Hall in the Susan and Jimmy Simmons Music Building, with a reception beginning at 5:30 p.m. and a presentation at 6 p.m.

Released by Centaur Records, the album features compositions by Madeline A. Lee, Joel Love, David F. Wilborn, Nick Rissman, Cait Nishimura and Marcus S. Grant. Drawing inspiration from Southeast Texas and the LU community, the recording explores themes of resilience, loss and renewal. The album is available on major streaming platforms, including Spotify, Apple Music and Amazon Music.

On Tuesday, Nov. 3, the LU Percussion Ensemble will present its first concert of the academic year at 7:30 p.m. in Rothwell Recital Hall. The performance will feature compositions inspired by the minimalist movement, a musical style characterized by repetition and evolving rhythmic patterns.

The department will continue its November programming with two Brass Festival concerts scheduled for Thursday, Nov. 5, and Friday, Nov. 6. Both performances will begin at 7:30 p.m. at St. Anthony's Cathedral Basilica in Beaumont.

The month's scheduled performances also include a concert featuring the Lamar University Wind Ensemble and Symphonic Band on Monday, Nov. 16, at 7:30 p.m. at the Julie Rogers Theatre in Beaumont.

All four concert dates are free and open to the public, with no ticket required for the Percussion Ensemble performance. The Nov. 2 album release celebration is also open to the public.
