Department of Theatre and Dance to present ‘Eye of God’

Lamar University’s Department of Theatre and Dance will present Tim Blake Nelson’s “Eye of God,” directed by Caitlin Parker, Sept. 10-20 in the Studio Theatre. Eye of God Promotional Poster

Set in a small Oklahoma town, the psychological drama follows Ainsley, a young woman who marries Jack, a recently released convict she has corresponded with for three years. Jack has never told her why he went to prison, and his newfound faith leads him to believe Providence brought them together.

But when Jack is required to wear an electronic surveillance device and his parole officer reveals the circumstances behind his imprisonment, Ainsley begins questioning the man she married.

The production features Joseph Lyle Taylor, Jay Sullivan and Porter LaPray.

Performances are scheduled for Sept. 10-12 and 17-19 at 7:30 p.m. and Sept. 13 and 20 at 2 p.m. in the Studio Theatre.

The production contains language, violence, gore and sexual references.
