Lamar University launches DBA in Energy Management program

For the first time in 15 years, Lamar University will launch a new doctoral program. The Doctor of Business Administration (DBA) in Energy Management is a first of its kind program in the state of Texas and the nation. 

The DBA in Energy Management is a professional doctoral degree that is designed to provide experienced business professionals and executives with advanced education and critical research skills pertaining to the energy sector. “Lamar University is thrilled to offer the new DBA in Energy Management,” Joby John, dean of the College of Business said. “This interdisciplinary, executive-level program is built for experienced professionals ready to lead in a rapidly evolving energy landscape.” 

The program offers flexibility that was designed with working professionals in mind, with online courses and modest tuition costs. With an interdisciplinary blend of coursework, and applied research dissertation, the collaborative components of the program take a dynamic approach to business administration. 

“Designed to meet the complex strategic, technical, and leadership demands of today’s industry, the DBA in Energy Management prepares graduates to drive innovation across traditional and renewable energy sectors,” John said. 

By examining business strategy and energy economics, finance, policy, AI integration, sustainability and analytics, graduates will be equipped with workforce development opportunities and industry-specific knowledge. 

The Lamar University College of Business and DBA in Energy Management program is fully accredited by the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business. This distinction underscores Lamar University’s commitment to academic and industrial advancement in Southeast Texas and across the globe.
