We also utilize local career information to give prospective students more realistic job growth stats and salary information, compared to looking at national averages.”

The article, “ The Best Value Online Colleges in Texas,” only ranks schools that are accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges. Additionally, TexasOnlineColleges.com gives priority ranking to those schools that offer a tuition guarantee. Once a student is enrolled tuition will not increase.

Some of the reasons TexasOnlineColleges.com ranks LU in the top 20 include its online degree offerings. LU offers 43 online degrees, including 27 master’s programs and one doctoral program. LU is a member of the Texas State University System, which maintains the lowest average tuition and fees of any university system in Texas, and LU’s programs are designed for the working professional.

TexasOnlineColleges.com also recognized Lamar University as a “disability friendly school” because more than 4% of LU’s student population is registered with the school’s disabilities center. Lamar University is home to the Disability Resource Center that determines and facilitates reasonable accommodations in compliance with the American Disabilities Act and Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973. The DRC offers a host of accommodations, academic adjustments and assistive technology to help students gain access to information in a way that is meaningful and unique to each person.

The ranking also distinguished LU as a “first-generation student friendly school.” Schools achieve this distinction if more than 12% of the student population is composed of students who represent the first wave of people from their families to attend college. As a “first-generation friendly school, LU recognizes the significance of this student population and offers unique support and resources, including first-generation scholarships and grants, academic tutoring, credit for life experience and professional development.

The latest ranking also considered LU’s previous and recent rankings, which include Best Online Colleges in Texas, Most Affordable Online College in Texas and best in the nation for an online B.A. in general studies as well as online M.A. in school counseling.
