LU ranks among best in the nation in general studies

TheBestSchools.org recently announced that Lamar University is one of the best schools in the nation to pursue an online bachelor's degree in general studies.

LU ranked 39 in the nation among accredited online programs. Thebestonlineschools.org ranking is based on academic excellence, faculty-student ratio, retention and graduation rate, admission and enrollment rates, national and regional school accreditation, degree-specific professional accreditation and certification, reputation and awards, program costs and affordability and strength of the online instruction methodology, among other standards.

“It’s an honor to be listed with the best of the best,” said Brenda Nichols, vice provost of Lamar University. “We have offered the degree for more than 25 years and want to help students meet their own educational needs. The degree provides the opportunity for a minor or to focus on three areas of interest.”

Many of Lamar University’s programs are ranked. Lamar University’s Bachelor of Science in industrial engineering online 2+2 degree program has been ranked No. 1 for best value by SR Education Group. College Choice has ranked LU's online M.B.A. program and online education master’s programs No. 8 “Most Affordable Online Master's in Gifted & Talented Education,” No. 8 in “Best Online Master's in Gifted & Talented Education” and No. 15 in "Most Affordable Online Master's in Special Education.” LU’s nursing school ranks in the top 50 in the country and recognized for excellence by the Community for Accredited Online Schools.

“Students in the bachelor's in general studies program online are committed to completing their degree and their graduation rate is over 80 percent,” said Nichols.
